Online Theological Education
It is not an understatement to say that the Internet has caused an intellectual revolution in the twenty first century, not least in education. Theological education has also been impacted by the advent of the Internet. In partnership with a number of organizations, MENATE ceased the opportunity to expand its outreach via the World Wide Web, by developing online theological courses in Arabic.
After more than 5 years of research, planning and development, MENATE now offers 32 theological e-courses to help train aspiring Christian leaders in the Middle East and North Africa to do effective ministry. The courses aim to serve the communities of the region by developing and empowering faithful followers of Jesus Christ through widely accessible and culturally appropriate learning opportunities.
The curriculum was designed by a team of academic deans and theology professors from a number of MENATE schools. The 32 courses were written as 2-credit academic courses, by experienced theology professors and seasoned church pastors from Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, and with input from North African voices.
MENATE used the Moodle platform to display the courses. Each course is composed of 10 sessions, where each session includes a unit outline, a lesson, interactive media elements, a number of affective behavioural and cognitive questions, and a final quiz. Courses are grouped under five general categories and they are:

All courses are available online free of charge on www.Bounian.com. The Bounian site includes a user guide that helps learners navigate the Moodle environment. Bounian allows users to engage in self-paced learning, based on their availability.
